Title

CONFERENCE: Scottish Orthotic Conference 27 April 2013

Subject

To provide a platform to enable Orthotists to share ideas and experiences, with the aim of reducing the incidence and costs occurring from unused and poorly fitting orthotic appliances. It is anticipated that this will lead to less pressure on the NHS orthotic and orthopaedic services, improve the service to the patient and reduce financial waste arising from unused appliances. It is envisaged that this one-day conference will generate interest and enthusiasm for regular exchange of information among orthotists, and that the benefits of the conference will be self-evident and will result in orthotists seeking to continue to exchange information for mutual benefit.

Scottish Post Polio Network will promote the conference through the British Association of Prosthetics and Orthotics and the Long Term Conditions Alliance Scotland, as it is recognised that although Post Polio is a specific problem the provision of orthotic appliances affects people with many other long term conditions.
